Rome, December 25 (LaPresse) – Climate crisis, fires, loss of biodiversity and international summits, such as the Cop29, ‘disappointing’. On the basis of these elements the WWF speaks of a ‘negative balance’ for the environment in 2024. Among the positive notes, ‘new species are discovered in Africa and Asia and a new coral reef in the Pacific, while in Europe the “Restoration law” to regenerate nature is approved, while in Italy renewable energies and vegan and vegetarian food are growing’. In addition, the association recalls the data from Copernicus (the European Climate Service) relaunching that ‘2024 will in all probability once again be the hottest ever recorded at the global level with a global average temperature that could exceed pre-industrial levels by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, making 2024 the first calendar year to exceed this symbolic threshold’.
