Afghanistan: 50 Dead in 2 Accidents on Kabul-Kandahar Highway

Milan, December 19 (LaPresse/AP) – Two highway accidents in southeastern Afghanistan have killed a total of 50 people and injured 76. One of the accidents involved a collision between a passenger bus and a fuel tanker on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, said Hafiz Omar, spokesperson for the governor of Ghazni province. The other accident occurred in a different section of the same highway, which connects the Afghan capital to the south.

"The injured were taken to hospitals in Ghazni, and authorities are delivering the bodies to the families," Omar added. Patients in more critical condition have been transferred to Kabul. Among the victims are women and children.
