European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented the key areas of work outlined in her Letter on Migration issued last Monday, focusing on the proposal for a new legal framework on returns, which the Commission intends to present in early 2025.
The leaders present expressed their appreciation for von der Leyen's Letter and the practical approach of the Conclusions on migration set to be approved at today’s European Council. They agreed to maintain close cooperation with the aim of strengthening and making the European Union’s migration policy increasingly effective.
