Brussels, Dec. 20 (LaPresse) – Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for an initial exchange of views after the new European executive took office. At the centre of the conversation were the priorities for action in the new EU institutional cycle, starting with the relaunch of the European Union's role and competitiveness in the world. In this regard, Meloni dwelt in particular on the prospects of the automotive sector in the context of the environmental transition path and on the strong concerns of the national agricultural sector in the context of the EU-Mercosur Agreement. This was reported by Palazzo Chigi in a note.
