Rome, Dec 24 (LaPresse) – The Amsterdam court sentenced five people for the violence that occurred during the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv Europa League match. The highest sentence was six months in prison. According to the judges, on the night of 7-8 November, the five were guilty of violence and incitement to violence. In the sentence, the court took into account the context in which the riots took place, noting that the tension in the Dutch capital had increased since the day before the match, partly due to the behaviour of the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, who tore down some Palestinian flags chanting insulting slogans and songs aimed at ‘Arabs’.
