Turin, Dec. 24 (LaPresse) – The Eiffel Tower in Paris was evacuated this morning. This decision was made by authorities following a short circuit that occurred on the power rail of an elevator. This was reported in a statement from the Société d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (Sete), the company that manages the monument. According to French press reports, the incident took place between the second floor and the top of the monument, triggering the fire alarm at 10:50 AM. In accordance with safety procedures, Sete immediately carried out a complete evacuation of the site. Approximately 1,200 visitors were evacuated, and "there was no danger to the public," the company reported. No injuries have been reported so far. After clearing all doubts about the safety of the scene, the firefighters left the area. Investigations are ongoing to precisely determine the cause of the incident. The Eiffel Tower partially reopened to the public at 12:15, allowing access to the second floor.
