Rome, 24 December (LaPresse) – The Farnesina has sent a diplomatic delegation to Damascus to meet with Syria's new transitional authorities. ‘One of the objectives of our diplomatic action in the region is the protection of civilians and Christian citizens, as well as all minorities,’ said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, as reported by the ministry in a note. ‘To the new Syria, Italy will offer all the support it can, but we want to verify the solidity of the declarations of peace and tolerance towards women and minorities, including Christian ones,’ Tajani remarked.
