A thousand people took part in the commemoration in Magdeburg Cathedral of the victims of yesterday's attack on the Christmas market. Among the authorities present were Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The ceremony, celebrated by Bishop Friedrich Kramer and the cathedral's preacher Jorg Uhle-Wettle, was also broadcast outside the building to allow the many people who could not find a place inside to attend.
