Seoul (South Korea), Dec. 26 (LaPresse/AP) – South Korea's main opposition party has filed an impeachment motion against Acting President Han Duck-soo for his reluctance to appoint the three Constitutional Court judges ahead of the dismissal proceedings of his predecessor Yoon Suk Yeol. Appointments to the Court have stalled due to an escalating dispute between the liberal opposition and Yoon's conservative party, and the possible impeachment of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo could exacerbate the political paralysis that has halted diplomacy and shaken financial markets. The opposition-controlled National Assembly also passed motions to appoint three Constitutional Court judges as the court prepares to rule on Yoon's dismissal or reinstatement. The vote came shortly after Han reiterated in a televised statement that he would not appoint the judges without bipartisan consensus.
