Rome, Dec. 22 (LaPresse) – ‘We want to defend our external borders and we will not allow Russia or criminal organisations to undermine our security’. So said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in her final statements to the press at the end of the ‘North-South’ summit in Finland. NATO is the basis of ‘our security’ and as EU countries ‘we must understand’ that the contribution of expenditure required by the Atlantic military alliance must be ‘guaranteed’, the premier added. ‘Security is defence,’ Meloni stressed, ’and we must do more. She continued: ‘My opinion is that on the countries of southern Europe there has been a lot of prejudice’ and “we cannot seriously tackle the challenges we face if we do not understand each other's point of view, difficulties and problems”.
