Rome, Dec. 22 (LaPresse) – The Senate Chamber paid tribute to maestro Riccardo Muti with a standing ovation at the end of the XXVII Christmas Concert. President Ignazio La Russa presented him with the traditional bell ‘as a sign of gratitude and admiration’. ‘It is an instrument that is usually used to bring calm when the Senate is boiling, but it is a sound that in your hands can become very sweet,’ La Russa told the maestro, who jokingly replied, “Is it made of gold?”.
