Rome, Dec. 23 (LaPresse) – ‘Also in light of the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Cassation that indicated the competences regarding the identification of safe countries of origin at the national level, the summit reiterated the firm intention to continue working, together with the EU partners and in line with the Conclusions of the European Council of last December 19, on the so-called “innovative solutions” to the migratory phenomenon’. This is what is stated in a note issued by Palazzo Chigi after the summit chaired by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the government headquarters on the implementation of the Protocol between Italy and Albania. The meeting was attended by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, remotely connected, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, Minister for European Affairs, the NRP and Cohesion Policies Tommaso Foti, and Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano, the delegated authority for security services. Meloni, concludes the note from Palazzo Chigi, also shared ‘the strong consensus that has emerged in this sense, also on the occasion of the meeting promoted together with the Danish and Dutch prime ministers with the member states most interested in the issue, on the sidelines of the last European Council’.
