Rome, Dec. 26 (LaPresse) – "13,698 trains underwent extraordinary monitoring in the past month, with over 1.6 million passengers checked. These are the figures from the 'Safe Christmas' operation by FS Security, which the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has followed with great interest and attention. The intensified efforts began on November 25.

In general, the increased deployment of personnel to safeguard stations and trains has yielded significant results. Compared to 2023, the year now ending has seen a 19% increase in protected trains with targeted inspections, including onboard checks, and a 21% increase in passengers monitored," the MIT announced.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Matteo Salvini expressed "satisfaction, also because FS Security's activities are in perfect and effective coordination with law enforcement agencies, aligning with the direction set by the agreement signed a few days ago at the Viminale with FS and the Ministry of the Interior."
