Rome, Dec. 19 (LaPresse) – "As I always do, we talked before the match. For me, Theo’s situation is easy to explain. He has played a lot, he’s been with the national team. He hasn’t yet reached his best physical condition; maybe he needs to recover fully to feel good," said Milan coach Paulo Fonseca in a press conference on the eve of the match against Verona.
"Theo is very important for us. It’s never a punishment for him; it’s simply to help him get back to his best condition. I keep saying that for me, he’s the best fullback in the world," he added.
"I know how things are; you don’t have the opportunity to watch the training sessions. Maybe one of these days you can come and see them to witness the team’s atmosphere: it’s wonderful. It’s always good to have a positive atmosphere. This week has been like the others, with a good environment for working. When it’s like this, it’s easier to work. I’ve never felt the team lacking confidence after a match, without the will to work, or with sadness. I’ve never felt that," Fonseca concluded.
