Turin, December 19 (LaPresse) – The Friedkin Group, already in control of AS Roma in Serie A, is the new owner of Everton, the Liverpool-based team competing in the English Premier League. The agreement "has received the necessary regulatory approvals from the Premier League, the Women's Professional Leagues Limited, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority," stated the English club in a press release.
"Today marks an important opportunity and a source of great pride for the Friedkin Group as we become stewards of this iconic football team," said Marc Watts, the Friedkin family-appointed executive chairman of Everton. "We are committed to leading Everton into an exciting new era both on and off the pitch. Providing immediate financial stability to the club was a fundamental priority, and we are pleased to have achieved this goal. While returning Everton to its rightful place in the Premier League will take time, today marks the first step of this journey."
"Everton represents a proud legacy, and we are honored to become stewards of this great institution," Dan Friedkin emphasized in a message to the Toffees’ fans. "The Friedkin Group is a diverse family of companies with a global presence across sectors such as sports, automotive, entertainment, hospitality, and adventure. In all our endeavors, we strive to deliver extraordinary experiences that ignite people’s passions. We are excited to bring this vision to Everton and the city of Liverpool.
"Although we are new to the club, we fully understand the vital role Everton plays in the local culture, history, and the lives of its fans here and around the world. We are deeply committed to honoring this legacy while positively contributing to the community, economy, and people of this extraordinary city. Once again, thank you for your continued support," Friedkin concluded.
