Milan, Dec. 20 (LaPresse) – Ezio Maria Simonelli is the new president of the Serie A Football League, succeeding Lorenzo Casini.
During today’s second elective assembly at the headquarters on Via Rosellini, Simonelli secured 14 votes in favor against 6 against. In the first round of voting, Simonelli, a long-time accountant of Silvio Berlusconi, had stopped at 11 votes. In the second round, he managed to rally three additional clubs to reach the quorum required for election.

Simonelli has previously served as interim president of the Serie A League and, three years ago, unsuccessfully ran for the presidency of the Serie B League, losing to Mauro Balata.
